About This Site
This is a personal book blog where I write long-form reviews of things I've read recently (and also sometimes post about writing I've done elsewhere on the internet). I like to mainly use this site to talk about works of science fiction and fantasy, but I also sometimes write about books from other genres.
My philosophy toward writing criticism is to try and convey what my general experience of a story was, and what it was about that work which produced these reactions for me. My goal is not so much to declare whether or not I think a story is good or bad, but instead to discuss what my thoughts about that story are in the hope that this might be useful in some way to others.
In general I like both reading and writing book reviews, and my goal is to use this blog as an outlet where I personally can create more of this sort of content on the internet.
In terms of my background, I graduated from the University of Vermont in 2019 with a degree in Japanese, and a concentration in Japanese Literature. Outside of this blog, I've also written book reviews for the speculative fiction magazine Strange Horizons.
